Is ROKA Smart UV® a natural ingredient?
ROKA is a patented active ingredient, obtained by chemical synthesis, developed by Spanish Deep Tech ROKA Furadada. Their ambition is to reduce the incidence of skin cancer and other skin diseases linked to UV radiation through the research, development, production and sale of highly effective active ingredients with low toxicological and environmental impact.
Should you apply sunscreen products in the absence of sunlight?
Yes and no…
UV protection protects against 2 types of UV rays:
• UVB: 5% of rays, responsible for sunburn (B=Burn). They are mainly absorbed by the epidermis, the upper layer of the skin
• UVA: 95% of UV rays, responsible for long-term effects on the skin: hyperpigmentation (brown spots) and premature aging of the skin (A=Age), present outdoors every day, whatever the weather (invisible enemy). UVA has a longer wavelength which allows it to penetrate deeper into the skin, reaching the dermis, the middle layer of the skin.
Traditional UV protection should be applied every 2 hours to maintain its UVB and UVA effectiveness. Not easy for daily use…. But the good news is that the majority of us do not need UVB protection on a daily basis... ROKA Smart UV® technology provides UVA protection for up to 8 hours without re-application.
